What’s happening now...
In the October 3, 2011, issue of the Federal Register, EPA released draft Guidance for 1-hour SO2 NAAQS SIP Submissions. Those of you who work with SO2 sources who may be subject to such SIP revisions/submissions may want to check this out to understand the possible implications. This document, plus related information, can be found here.
The 92nd annual meeting of the American Meteorological Society will be held January 22–26, 2012, in New Orleans. This conference will include the 17th Joint Conference on the Applications of Air Pollution Meteorology (with AWMA) and the 14th Conference on Atmospheric Chemistry. Both of these meetings will feature an extensive number of papers/presentations on air quality modeling. For more information about the meetings, click here. Laissez les bon temps rouler! (Let the good times roll!)
As we noted in last month’s edition of Oris Notes, EPA’s 10th Conference on Air Quality Models has been postponed until March 13–15, 2012. It is still planned to be held in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Look for details on the conference announcement on the EPA SCRAM website.
Finally, we are excited to announce our AERMOD, AERSCREEN, and CalPuff class offerings for 2012. Here’s where we’ll be:
January 19 — AERSCREEN Training (online) February 28-29 — AERMOD Modeling for Permits (Austin, TX) March 22 — AERSCREEN Training (online) April 17-18 — AERMOD Modeling for Permits (Raleigh, NC) May 17 — AERSCREEN Training (online) June 4-5 — AERMOD Modeling for Permits (San Francisco Bay Area) June 6-7 — Practical CalPuff (San Francisco Bay Area) July 19 — AERSCREEN Training (online) August 21-22 — AERMOD Modeling for Permits (Indianapolis, IN) September 13 — AERSCREEN Training (online) October 9-10 — AERMOD Modeling for Permits (VT) November 15 — AERSCREEN Training (online) December 4-5 — AERMOD Modeling for Permits (Denver, CO) December 6-7 — Practical CalPuff (Denver, CO)
For more information about these classes, please check the EnviroMod University home page.
If your training needs conflict with any of these dates or if you have a lot of people you need to train at once, contact us about setting up an on-site class.

News From BEE-Line Software
BEEST
We are thrilled to announce the release of BEEST version 9.92. It came out on October 20, 2011, and has some really cool new features:
- We’ve added the ability to quickly locate sources, buildings and tanks when viewing data graphically ("Find and Zoom")
- BPIP-Prime processes sources with IDs that are up to 12 characters long
- Notes about the model setup can be saved to the .BST file
- Multiple AERMOD meteorological data files can be combined into
a single file
- BEEST sets file names automatically for output files used in
NAAQS modeling
- And more!
A great big "Thank you" goes out to all of you who made these suggestions. We think everyone will find these upgrades to be very useful.
A webinar that demonstrated the new features was held on October 27, 2011. You can view a recording of it by going to Support → Webinars.
As always, if you have suggestions for upgrades or enhancements to BEEST, please let us know.
